Support ServicesCurrently, we provide free support and upgrades for all users, registered or not; needless to say, this means we have to keep our program as simple and bug-free as possible. Since we don't make any money from supporting customers, we have to provide software that requires as little support as possible. We intend to continue this policy for as long as we can afford to do so. We do, however, ask that our users do their part. We wrote a comprehensive, easy-to-read, help file for both WFTPD and WFTPD Pro, and we do ask that you read it, or these support pages, before asking us directly for help. We also would ask that you contact us before asking in public discussion groups such as Usenet, or Bugtraq - we have had instances where a question that we could have answered quickly by email or on the phone was posted on a Usenet newsgroup, which we don't read as frequently. In order for us to give you the best support, we need to receive your help, too. We do not reward irresponsible disclosure of vulnerabilities - if you do not notify us first of vulnerabilities you find, we will not mention your name or attribute you as the discoverer. To the left, you'll see a link to our "Bug Page", where you can find out about bugs we've fixed - and bugs we're working on fixing. Note that it's usually the case that by the time we've got around to entering a bug into our web page, it's already been fixed, so for the most part, you'll only see fixed bugs here. We do mention a few bugs in other people's software that may impact your use of our software - on those, it's worth pointing out that we don't generally have the ability to affect other people's development, but we will usually suggest workarounds. You'll also see a link on the left to FAQs - "Frequently Asked Questions" - this is a list of the most common questions we get asked by email. For obvious reasons, this will be a fluid list, addressing the most common questions in recent emails. Please check this page before emailing for technical support. We've removed the WFTPD Forum - it was generating hundreds of spam messages, and absolutely no WFTPD-related content. |
